Peace Found

Our lives have so many different paths and moments to choose from. For me there have been 2 distinct paths lately: On one hand there was fast paced, ladder climbing, excitement, money making, consumerism. On the other hand was slowed pace, quiet, simplicity, doing with less.

17 months ago I convinced my husband to change his job location for a more exciting, better paying position. We left "small town America" for the exciting city life. It was fun and the new position allowed my husband to be home more often. But the fast pace of life didn't seem to mesh well with our family. We longed for walks on wooded paths and quiet star filled evenings. 14 months later we packed up everything, leaving the city behind to return to what I thought would be a more boring existence.

Moving back to the small, simple life this time around has brought a fresh perspective of what's important. I don't long for busy, loud, ever changing days. I find solace in the cool still mornings, in the forest adventures my kids and I now share.

I am often amazed at how ones perspective can change so drastically just by having a clearer view. I know this post means nothing to some of you, heck, I may even have confused some of you completely! But to me this new found peace is everything these days. My children and I have started a huge vegetable garden, I am pondering getting a few chickens (who doesn't want farm fresh eggs all the time?!) and life is slow. The key here is for once in my life I am truly content. My little piece of heaven is right where I am. It's silly, all this moving and changing to come right back where I started...

This is not just a moment in my life to be missed or cherished, it is everything coming full circle and finally making sense.

Yes my blogging has been effected by these changes, but it's because I am soaking it all in and trying my best not to miss one single moment!

I am going to miss the sound of my kids giggling and enjoying themselves with friends under my roof. There will come a time when hanging out at home won't be cool. Sword fighting and my little ponies will be a thing of the past. This is a moment I love and don't ever want o give up.

You're Gonna Miss This... Q-Shot: Cartoon, VGNO

The TV has not been on as much lately during the day at our house, I am doing my best to play with my kids instead of letting the "boob-tube" babysit them. One of my favorite cartoons that gets my kids moving is Yo Gabba Gabba.

My mini-munchkin stays on her feet from the time DJ Lance enters with his boom box till the credits roll. She jumps, dances, shakes and sings. I love watching her when she thinks no one is looking, I for sure want to remember these moments.

I already miss my long days with my munchkin before he went off to school, now I have to savor the days i have with the mini-munchkin before she heads off to school next year. I will miss the fun moments when we venture off to the local park and get some "mommy & daughter" time.

You're Gonna Miss this...Moment, Childhood Friends

This week I was thinking about the friends my kids had to leave when we moved. Will they still be friends when they grow up? I am sure most will not be (it's the truth.) But then who will stay with them always? Who will be there by their side as a groomsman or bridesmaid someday? I miss the moment of watching them play with these great kids already. And I can't wait to see who they meet here on this new chapter for our family.

Claire, Katelyn, AJ, Stella, Savannah, Hunter, Kent, Rachel... You are my moment this week, the impact you kiddos have made in my kids lives, Thank you. We miss you guys :(

I have quite a few friends from childhood, but she has been around the longest :) We did (and still do) get into too much trouble together. Day 4, You're Gonna Miss This

We are reaching the tail end of our journey, tomorrow afternoon we will make our destination in Arizona. We started driving in South Carolina and by tomorrows end we will have driven 2, 240 miles. Geez, can you believe we are still getting along after all that time in the car? I cant wait to get out of the car, check out our new town, and start getting settled. With that said, I am going to miss the beautiful landscapes I have passed while traveling the US this week. It makes me appreciate all that America is. Hope you all have a wonderful relaxing weekend!

You're Gonna Miss this...Moment, The Anakin Face

Many of you who have followed my blog for any length of time know that my son is obsessed with "Star Wars." Something I am going to miss is his Anakin Skywalker face. If you don't know the story, Anikin turns to the dark side in Episode III and eventually becomes Darth Vader. In the third movie Anakin makes this face when he has finally become consumed with the dark side:

The Munchkin is so proud of his representation of Anakin, I know you might think it is spooky, but we love it! It is so funny when he does the "Anakin face." I am absolutly going to miss this moment :)

You're Gonna Miss this...Moment, Zoo Trips

What a day! We took the munchkins to the Riverbank Zoo today. We met up with some old friends we hadn't seen in years, pre-kid friends. Kate over at Kate's Musings and her lovely family. 4 kids in tow and everyone stayed together, got along, and were well behaved... I couldn't have imagined a better way to spend my Saturday. My hubby and Kate's hubby had a nice time catching up after all these years, the kids enjoyed the company of other mini-munchkins to run and play with. Kate and I were just glad to see each other. The last time we saw one another in person was at my wedding! Kate is who started me on this whole "blog thing."

I am absolutely going to miss taking my kids to the zoo, I love watching them get excited over simple things like monkey's swinging from a tree.

OK, can I change this up a bit? Since the impending move is less then a month away now, I have a million things I am going to miss (my friends, my house, my kids friends, the woods that surround our home, the pool, my sense of security...) Today I am going to tell you about a moment I am NOT going to miss. I am NOT going to miss this:

Once I reach that imaginary, always longing for, distant weight I want to be, I will be so excited to GET OFF THE TREADMILL! Yes, I know if I ever get to that magic number I will have to maintain to stay there, but I won't have to hang out with this machine everyday. And that is the moment I will NOT miss.

Today not missing is so much easier to deal with, I hope you understand. :) Have a great weekend everyone!

You're Gonna Miss This...Moment, Sweet Dreams

Every weekend my munchkins and I have a tradition, at bed time the 3 of us snuggle up in "mommy's bed" and hang out. we talk about our week, we act silly, we simply love on each other.



I will truly miss this moment, and will do my best to hold onto this tradition for as long as I can. Have a great weekend everyone!

You're Gonna Miss This Moment...Cupcakes

I LOVED discovering I had captured this moment at my daughters 3rd birthday party last year. Brother and Sister, a bond that can't be broken.

I know I still have many more children's birthday parties ahead of me (I hope!) But I am sure going to miss it when the munchkins don't want mommy to do it anymore. I am going to miss seeing their little eyes light up as the cake full of candles enteres the room, and the look on their faces as they rip open a gift in front of their friends. I AM gonna miss this moment.
