Bonjour Amis

The planning for Audrey's 4th Birthday is underway. I love planning both kids parties, it is so much fun. I was never a "girly-girl" and Audrey very much is. But, the older I get, the more I seem to like the frilly girl stuff. With that said she has chosen a Fancy Nancy party theme.


If you have a little girl these book are wonderful. Written by Jane O'Connor. They learn basic french words and see that everyone is unique in their own way. As her mother, I am so proud of her for picking a strong female from a book!!
Fancy Nancy is well, fancy (Duh!) And Audrey wants her party that way too. Fuchsia, glitter, diamonds, feathers, we're doing it all. I think our setting will be a french tea party.
I can't wait to see all of the little girls dressed up in gowns eating tea sandwiches and spilling fruit punch all over the place! If you're going to be around August 9th and have little munchkins come on by!


I am really getting into this party. It is strange since I was the little girl climbing trees and riding my bike all day. Yeah I had dolls too, but that was for days when I couldn't be outside getting dirty.
How can a persons likes and dislikes so drastically change over time? I am a grown woman and I am getting all excited about the new dress-up clothes the girls get to wear. It could be that as a mom we love what our kids love. But, more importantly we LOVE seeing them happy and excited. I could chalk this up to being a silly fun mom, but I really think I secretly like all this fluffy, glittery stuff.
Ssshhhh! Don't tell anyone about me loving the froufrou!


Now the tough part...Boys. What in the world should I do with Zane? There will be 3 other boys (brothers to the girl attendance) coming as well. One thing for sure is Zane is NOT into all this stuff. So what to do with them? If I don't keep them busy they will terrorize the party.
I know the boys will want to be apart of cake and ice cream. Who wouldn't? I am all ears for any suggestions, PLEASE!!
This planning momma is done for the evening. I am going to go watch a Disney movie with the munchkin (Zane) and mini-munchkin (Audrey).

Worn Out

Today was full of fun. Joe was off work so we decided to play. After sleeping in (well, I was up at 6am with the kids, technically Joe slept in.) We got up and went out to Ruby Tuesdays for an early lunch then headed over to a family fun park about 30 minutes from our house. Miniature Golf, Go-Cart Races, and a nice Arcade. Audrey found a game that she won over 400 tickets on!! I couldn't do that if I tried! So after paying an arm and a leg the kids were able to cash in their tickets for two tiny Slinky's, WOW! What a deal! Never mind we could have gone to Target and paid $1 for the same slinky. Nope, you have to spend $15 per kid to get it with TICKETS! Joe and Zane lapped Audrey and I on the Go-Cart races (us girls let the boys win, ha ha.)

Then it was back home to finish a few loads of laundry and hop in the pool (Thank you Joe for letting our family put that in last summer!)

So now it's night time and Daddy and Son are playing video games together. Audrey is sitting in my lap ready to lay with mommy in our bed. It was a great day at our house. I really hope this job search works out. What The kids and I wouldn't give to see Joe more often. So keep those fingers crossed people! I hope you all had a nice relaxing Saturday.

Behold, Lord Petro

I just had to share this video with you all. I laughed so hard, but I was also saddened by how true it is. One of these days we will get the message. I wish we didn't have to drive everywhere. I know for me, I don't live in a big city and I can't walk to the market. When I was in Germany we traveled everywhere via Train. It was wonderful. I think more of us would leave our cars in the garage if we had an alternative. So wake up US Government and don't just preach about how we need to drive less, help us do something about it!! Enjoy the show folk.

Pom Tea, YUMMM!

What a great marketing idea.
You peel of the plastic seal, pop the lid off, enjoy the drink, and then- Wow! look! It's a glass that you can clean, put in your cupboard and use again. I was so excited about the concept of a product that can be recycled in such a clever way. I know this isn't a new idea but they're the first company who's done this in a long time. Look at these neat ideas I found for it's use on the web:




Everyone could use a nice little vase, pencil holder, or a great homemade candle! Never mind it's use as a new cup.

Okay so about the drink. It's yummy good. So far, I have only tried the Pomegranate Lychee Green Tea , there are many other flavors. I can’t wait to try the rest! This one was delightfully fruity and fresh. The only complaint I have is that the lid is sort of difficult to pop off without spilling a little bit of the drink. Just be careful and be sure to steady the glass on a flat surface while you're opening it for minimal spillage. Also, take note these little buggers are not cheap. Keep in mind that it isn't a "throw away" bottle so that adds to the cost. Still, it tastes so good and I could use new glassware so I'll get a few more :)

A Dogs Life

I have introduced you to my hubby and munchkins in these blogs, but I have never introduced you to our furry friends who also reside under our room. (NO, we don't have rats!!) We are blessed with two silly dogs, each unique in his own way.

First let's meet Louise (a.k.a. Louie, Louby-Douby, Lou Lou Bear)
He is a Jack Russell Terrier
Louie was our "first child." We got Louie when we were living in Everett, WA in 2002 from an ad in the newspaper. He was born on a farm with dogs everywhere. He loves bananas, thanks to my late Grandma Gussie. He has a "small dog complex" he believes he is way bigger then he actually is. He runs the show. Not too much into the kids, but lets them cuddle with him. His days are spent looking out the windows, eating grass, and begging for food. He is sometimes referred to as Mr. Attitude.

Then there's Sammy (a.k.a. Sammy-Jam, Sam-Bone, SamSam)
He is a Boxer.
Sammy came to our family by chance. We got him when we first moved to Hartsville in 2003. Joe went to buy Louie some dog food and saw this skinny, scared, sick puppy at the pet store. He took me over to see him and I had to bring him home. He was the runt of the litter and was neglected because of that. He is very strong and healthy nowadays. Sammy is the dumbfounded wanna-be tough guy around here. His bark sounds scary, but truth be told he would only lick you to death. The kids love to wrestle with him, and he loves it! His days are spend sleeping everywhere, tackling Zane, licking the air, and sleeping some more. He is sometimes referred to as a Spazzoid.

 

I have always been a dog person and can not imagine my life without these guys, although... there are times they drive me crazy. Louie is so good at knowing when i have had a bad day and I just need some love. Sammy wants to play and make us laugh. We really do appreciate them both.
