30 Days About Me (A Photo That Makes Me Happy)

School Days

With school getting ready to start it has me all nostalgic about 1st days of school from years past. It seems like only yesterday my munchkins were tiny babies wrapped up in my arms. This year my daughter will be in 2nd grade and my son in 3rd. It just goes by too fast!

These pictures make me smile, we always commemorate the first day of school with a picture. It makes me happy that they both love school so much and that they look forward to each new year.

Falling Leaves & Family Time

Well hello readers! How have you been?

Life is in full swing out here in SC. Signs of Autumn are everywhere I turn. The yard needs to be raked, there's a chill in the air, and my kids are already making their Christmas lists! We've had a good few months, I thought I would give you a recap of what we have been up to.

Fall means college football, we are hard core Clemson Tiger fans and got the opportunity to attend the opening season game! The kids had a blast cheering on the players. I have never seen so much orange and purple in one place :) We can't wait till we can see a live game again. So much better than watching on the television.

While we were visiting the beautiful upstate for the football game we decided renting a boat for the day would be fun. Why not take advantage of the water before winter cools it all down too much to play in? Everyone had such a good time, I foresee a boat in our future... Now all I have to do is find someone who wants to buy one for me! Any takers? Anyone? Hello?

While we are on the subject of football, my son played again this year. Except, this year he played TACKLE! *eek* I'll admit, mommy was a little nervous. But after the first few games I chilled out and enjoyed it all.

He played Center, same as last year. This year he was #50. He had so much fun. Plus my hubby coached and I loved seeing them have father/son bonding moments. Both my boys played a good season. The Panthers won some, and lost some but with such a great coaching staff and awesome players every minute was a blast.

While the boys enjoyed throwing the pig skin, my daughter put on her ballet shoes and found a new passion. She had done gymnastics for years but wanted a change. Ballet was just what she needed. Wow, how wonderful to sit and watch your little girl twirl in a tutu. It makes me smile every time.

There are quite a few friends of hers in the class and the teacher is wonderful. They are working on a cute recital dressed as fairies for this Spring. It'll take me that long to figure out how to work my video camera, ha ha.

Halloween is always fun around our house. Every year we have a "boys vs. girls carving contest" And of course, every year there's a unanimous tie.
The kids are in charge of picking their pumpkin, the design, and gutting their own pumpkin.
Mom and Dad do most of the carving and light the candles. My daughter picks harder and harder designs every year, soon I won't be able to keep up!

Both kids had adorable costumes this year! There was a cute Chocolate Chip Cookie (carrying a milk jug as her treat bag) and a fearsome Medieval Sorcerer (sporting a stylish mustache) roaming the streets around our house. When the candy bags were full and the sugar highs had worn off the kids wanted MORE! So they helped me prepare for a fun Halloween party. Family and friends came from all over. I was proud of all the adults dressing up and getting in to the spirit.
The first 9 weeks are completed at school. Both kids have amazing teachers and both got STRAIGHT A'S! Way to go munchkins!!

Yup, we have had some fun the last few months. Thankfully God knows what we need when we need it. Currently my mom is dealing with some health issues and my daughter just had her tonsils and adenoids removed to prepare for a bigger ear surgery later this month. We got to play, laugh, and have loads of fun now we're rallying around each other weathering the storm.

I hope you have had a good late summer / early fall. Stay warm as the temperature drops!

au revoir, adieu, ciao, till next time...

Football In Full Swing

Gee, Lizzie, what have you been up to? We haven't seen you around much, we miss you SO much! Our lives aren't complete without you in it! (OK, I added that last part, ha ha)

me? Where have I been? Oh. I've been been busy with football.

than after that I'm busy with football just a bit more,

in the end it's all about football ... apparently.

Hubby is coaching, my son is playing, my daughter is, well, she's in charge of playing in the dirt on the sidelines. What is my job you ask?

Make sure the coaches are happy, sell goodies at the concession stand, keep dirty daughter off the field, apply many layers of bug spray to hubby, son, and dirty daughter, keep track of time, help other football moms with any of the above listed items, earn money for the team through sponsors, hydrate the entire world, and drag everyone home hungry and tired :)

So again, to answer what have I been up to?

football!

and I love every minute of it!
(adorable pictures of my munchkins throwing around the pigskin coming soon.)

au revoir, adieu, ciao, till next time...

Wordless Wednesday, The Season Begins

Yup, it's that time of year again. We'll rush home do homework at the speed of light, gobble down dinner insanely early, load up the truck and head to the field. We'll get home late, tired and dirty, clean up and hit the hay. Then we'll wake up and do it all over again. Football has begun!

au revoir, adieu, ciao, till next time...

Gobble, Gobble, Gobble

Happy Turkey Day everyone! I hope you all spend the day reflecting on those things you are most thankful for. I am thankful for my wonderful, healthy family. My dogs who have endless love. My hubby's new job, getting us back out west where we belong. My girlfriends (cyber and real), you are my therapist and i thank you for listening and always being there. In Thanksgivings past, our home has looked like this:

This year however, will look something like the picture below (Don't cha love "A Christmas Story"?) Still unpacking, so we thought we'd listen to some "Fa Ra Ra Ra Ra" while we chow on Lo Mein and Sweet and Sour Pork.

Have a great holiday!

The Mini-Munchkin Asks The Question

Let me set the scene for you:

It's dark out, kids are wondering up and down the streets pumped full of sugar, crazed look in their eyes. Then out skips a beautiful princess, Snow White! She creeps up our neighbors steps, rings the doorbell and says...

"Trick or Treat! Why do you let your doggy poop all over our yard?"

Neighbors smile leaves her face, she quickly hands out the candy and shuts the door. I guess we'll never know why her grass isn't good enough for her dog.

I love her, she's so direct and straight to the point :) My hubby looked at me with a disapproving frown. What? Do you think she got that from me? *he heee hee, i know she did!*

Happy day after Halloween everyone!

Wordless Wednesday, Sugar and Spice

There is a nice fall chill in the air around here, it feels wonderful. Today my daughter had a dentist appointment and afterwards she was quite cranky, so I snuck off to our front porch (below) to take in the lovely weather for a few minutes. Then I made her a snack to munch on while we drove to pick up her big brother from kindergarten. So here's your Sugar (sweet calm porch scene) & Spice (cranky preschooler making faces).

Sugar & Spice (great, now I'm thinking about pumpkin pie. There goes the diet... again.)

Wordless Wednesday, Pumpkins

Can I say enough times that I LOVE fall? It's just too fun, and the weather is perfect. Now on to being "wordless" (I never follow the rules, sorry!)

Can I jut say one more thing? I am SO proud of my daughter gutting her own pumpkin! She wanted to do everyone's since she enjoyed it so much. That's my girl :) And my other munchkins was obsessed with the flames from the glowing candle inside his pumpkin. Boys and fire... Have a good night everyone!

You're Gonna Miss This... Moment, A Disney Halloween

Our family was lucky enough to do the Disney World thing last Halloween. It was so amazing to be there over a holiday. I am not sure if I loved it more or the kids. I miss this moment already, but I am so thankful we were able to even have the moment to begin with. Here is a little preview for you all to celebrate Halloween and kids :)
