30 Days About Me (Something I Hate)

I HATE people who don't treat their animals well. I HATE seeing abandoned dogs wondering the streets. I HATE that the shelter systems are over flowing with dogs that people just decided not to care for anymore. I HATE that I can't do more...

Some of you may know that I make natural doggie soap. My company, Trois Amis Soap, wanted to do something to help animals in need so I teamed up with "Where Hope Lives" and created the HOPE & SOAP EVENT.

For the last 2 months Trois Amis Soap has been contributing 100% of our profit to “Where Hope Lives.” This organization was started to stop the suffering of animals in rural shelters and small communities. They offer free spay & neuter to low income families. They also do community outreach, helping the animals that have been abandoned, abused or neglected. This wonderful group needs support and funding to continue making a difference in the lives of our 4 legged friends and those that care for them.

So what I hate and what I love are very closely linked. I hate seeing animals in need and no one to help them, I love being able to make a difference, even if it is a small one. I will continue to donate all my profits from soap sales until August 15, 2011. Please spread the word about The Hope & Soap Event and help make a puppy smile today.

ok, I admit this is a shameless plug for a fund raiser I am doing. and my company web site has a cute little button right over there

just incase you would like to help :) but really this issue has a lot of "HATES" in it that drive me crazy every day. I am passionate about these Hates and I try to do all I can to help. My husband and I drive up to our local shelter once a month and donate bags of dog food and play with the animals. They just want someone to love, they deserve it!

Some of the faces we are all fighting for:

Better Today Then Yesterday

It's been a week. One week ago we lost Sammy, our boxer. (You can read my way too sad sob story about how much I love him here.)

The kiddies taking Sammy on a walk a few weeks ago

This has been a   L O N G  week. When you are sad time seems to slow down. I am pleased to report we are all feeling better in our house. It was pretty depressing around here for a few days. Our other 2 dogs wouldn't even play with us, it was pitiful to watch a dog go through the grieving process. Who ever said animals don't have feelings is full of bologna. The kids are doing better. My daughter is like a rock, nothing over emotional ever bugs her, but my son is my sensitive one and this has been hard for him.

All in all life goes on. The house seems slightly emptier these days but we have to keep chugging away. This Saturday will be my daughters 7th birthday (Wow how time flies!), and then we will be preparing for the 1st day of school shortly after.

Summer is slowly drifting away. I hope you've had a chance to do something fun with the ones you love.

To Love A Dog

*** tear jerker warning***

On July 28th, 2011 our furry friend, Grand Slammin Sam, a.k.a. Sammy (Sam-Bone, Sam Sam, Sammer Jammer) passed away. Wow has this been hard. He was an old man, and was not in pain for long. I held his paw while looking into his eyes and whispered "I'm sorry I couldn't make you all better, I love you" as he took his last breathe. And then I cried. I cried like a little baby, and I continued to cry for a long time. I'm not ashamed, I loved him...

To anyone who has loved an animal with all your heart and had to say good bye, I am so sorry for your loss. This is a pain I have never known.

This dog was apart of so much. When my husband was still my fiance, this scared sick neglected puppy came into our lives. Sammy was there when we bought our first home, he helped us welcome home 2 beautiful babies from the hospital. He traveled all the way across country twice while we figured out where our family fit in this crazy world. He rested with me on quiet evenings when mom-anxiety and stress were just to much, he kissed my face when I cried. Sammy was there when I found out my grandfather had gone to Heaven, he was there when my grandmother joined him.

How do you say good bye to a best friend? How do you just "move on" when you've lost your secret keeper, your foot warmer, your snuggler when no one else understood? The one who never cared if you lost your temper, who never cared that you were in dirty sweat pants with your hair a mess? All he wanted was you to love him while he loved you back...

*sigh*

Yes, I know it will get better with time. I know my heart won't hurt so much as the days pass. But now, right now, it just sucks! We got a sweet card from our vets office that said "Time will pass and the sorrow fade, but the pawprints in your heart remain" I like that. The pawprint on my heart, very true.

A friend sent me this poem, I'm sure many of you have heard it before but just incase here you go:

The Rainbow Bridge
inspired by a Norse legend

By the edge of a woods, at the foot of a hill,
Is a lush, green meadow where time stands still.
Where the friends of man and woman do run,
When their time on earth is over and done.

For here, between this world and the next,
Is a place where each beloved creature finds rest.
On this golden land, they wait and they play,
Till the Rainbow Bridge they cross over one day.

No more do they suffer, in pain or in sadness,
For here they are whole, their lives filled with gladness.
Their limbs are restored, their health renewed,
Their bodies have healed, with strength imbued.

They romp through the grass, without even a care,
Until one day they start, and sniff at the air.
All ears prick forward, eyes dart front and back,
Then all of a sudden, one breaks from the pack.

For just at that instant, their eyes have met;
Together again, both person and pet.
So they run to each other, these friends from long past,
The time of their parting is over at last.

The sadness they felt while they were apart,
Has turned into joy once more in each heart.
They embrace with a love that will last forever,
And then, side-by-side, they cross over… together.

*WWAAAHHHH*

OK, I know this post is like super sad. I'm sorry! I had to get it all out, I needed some writing therapy.

Sammy's last few days were very nice; we took him out to ice cream, he rode in the car everywhere, we even let him chase geese at the park. He was a happy boy, who brought a lot of sunshine to our world. We'll miss him forever and a day.

Good Bye old man, love you.

Snow Puppy

Remember when we brought this adorable puppy into our home? Well, he's over 65 pounds now, almost 2 years old and STILL acts like a crazy lunatic!!! But he sure is cute :) I have never had a dog drive me nuts more then Jackson. He makes me want to pull all my hair out and drink lots of vodka, but I love him so much. Such is the way of loving a dog, ha ha.

My kiddies are home due to snow (we've built like 5 snowmen!) so I must not blog long, just thought I'd share this adorable picture with you.

Anyone want a dog who pee's everywhere, eats chap stick, barks at trees, steps in his own poop and runs through the house, and drools on your feet while you sleep??
Hello?
No One?
Really?

OK, I'll keep him :)
