Wordless Wednesday, Icicles

This was an old stone building in Flagstaff, AZ. We passed it leaving our sledding adventure. As dangerous as these icicles can be, they sure are beautiful to look at.

Sledding Adventure

Once we made it up the mountain the skies opened up and the snow glistened everywhere. It was beautiful. The kids were chomping at the bit to play in it. And so, our winter adventure began...

First time sledding and the munchkin goes head first. That's my boy!

My hubby trekking through knee deep fresh powder. We got our exercise today

The mini-munchkin and I enjoying the snowy weather

The munchkin kept having glove malfunctions, not fun

___

After a full day of sledding, snow angels, snow ball fights, and fun... these munchkins were tuckered out!

I was so proud of my munchkins. No one was injured, no one whined (OK, maybe just a bit), and everyone had fun. Sledding was a lot more work then I expected. Going down was great... but, the hiking back up the hill was not so great. Next time we head north for snow play I will try and convince them that skiing is a great idea. After all, they have ski lifts to haul you up the hills :)

Snow Play

Tomorrow morning the family and I will be heading off for an adventure, sledding! Just a 2 hour drive towards the mountains and we'll be surrounded by the white stuff. I am so excited we have moved somewhere that this will be a winter tradition.

Growing up near the Sierra Nevada Mountains as a kid, skiing, sledding, snowball fights and snowman building we common during the winter months and I can't wait for that to be apart of my kids childhood too.

I have to admit, there are some nerves going on in this mom. First are for my daughter, the mini munchkin is quite dramatic... and a bit whiny. I am afraid as soon as she gets that snow on her skin she'll yell "MOMMY! I WANNA GO HOME! I'M COLD, WWAAAHHHHHHHH!" Second I am worried about my son, the munchkin is a dare devil. I can just see him heading for the biggest hill facing a ton of trees (Lord help me!)

I am sure everything will go just fine, or at least I am hoping it will. These snow boots are ready for some fun, and to enjoy feeling like a kid again :) I'll let you know what happens.

Then in a distant time far far away Under The BIG blue sky and Random thoughts of a mother of 2 sent me this great award that looks pretty... but who knows what it says :)

I now pass this onto

Spoiled Mommy (her kids do some silly stuff, need a shot of coke?)

*************************************************************************************

And the last blog award of the evening came to me while I was driving across the US from K...Not your Average Girl

I pass this on to

The Munchkin in Winter Wonderland

Last night our Munchkin had his Christmas concert at school, he was so excited to show us all the great holiday songs he had learned.

Let the show begin!

See that smiley one right in the middle? (red shirt with black stripes) Yup, that's my munchkin :)

The kids did a hip hop version of "Jingle Bells." It was beyond adorable!

The mini-munchkin LOVED watching her big brother on stage.

It's the holiday season, how do I know? Because I feel like I have 800 things to do and no time to do it all! Every Christmas I tell myself I will do less and enjoy the moments more. *sigh* I swear, I'll do it next year.

This fun night watching my son sing brought a tear to my eye. They really DO grow up too fast. Hope you all have a good Wednesday.

Sunday Signspotting: week twenty one

My kids are on the countdown to Christmas around here. Every 5 seconds I hear "is it Christmas yet? can we open a present? did Santa come yet? how much longer?" AAaaahhhhhh it's making me crazy! They have a calender that even shows how many days are left till the big day, but still... the questions continue. I remember bothering my parents with the same questions when I was little so I guess they'll get a taste of their own medicine some day :) OK, enough rambling. Here's your weekly dose of funny:

The Gingerbread House That Could

Last weekend we went to a cute little tree lighting party in our new neighborhood. The kids had a blast. There was a gingerbread house making station and my munchkins went straight there.

After these lovely homes were made there was a catastrophe... The mini-munchkins house fell apart. Now normally this would have been no big deal, but we are talking about my very dramatic little girl here. This small issue turned into a HUGE meltdown: screaming, tears, red-faced crying. Needless to say, no one wanted to talk to the "new people" with the crazy child and frantic mother!

A few days after this event we came across a kit for making spectacular ginger bread houses at the local grocery store. I decided to get it and hopefully put that cute smile back on my mini-munchkins face. This kit was AMAZING!! If you all remember, I am culinarily challenged, and look what I was able to make!

It's a miricle I tell ya. and it didn't even collapse *shocking* Yay for us!

The kids had such a good time "helping mommy" make the ginger bread house. And by helping I mean eating all the candy that went astray and licking frosting off of every possible surface in the kitchen :) I think they are going to be sticky for a week!

I just love Christmas, and I think making gingerbread houses will be a tradition we do every year, now that we found a way to make everyone enjoy it.
