You're Gonna Miss this...Moment, The Anakin Face

Many of you who have followed my blog for any length of time know that my son is obsessed with "Star Wars." Something I am going to miss is his Anakin Skywalker face. If you don't know the story, Anikin turns to the dark side in Episode III and eventually becomes Darth Vader. In the third movie Anakin makes this face when he has finally become consumed with the dark side:

The Munchkin is so proud of his representation of Anakin, I know you might think it is spooky, but we love it! It is so funny when he does the "Anakin face." I am absolutly going to miss this moment :)

Anticipation

I bought a book for my munchkins to help sort out the emotions they may feel from this upcoming move.

"Alexander, Who's Not (Do you hear me? I mean it!) Going to Move" BY: Judith Viorst.

The big munchkin has expressed feelings of missing his best friends, and school, and our town in general. The mini munchkin is more concerned with funny things like "will we be able to take my closet door?" As I read to them last night something strange happened, I actually got sad! Shocking I know. My close friends and family know I can't wait to get further out west, where I am from.

I feel so sorry for uprooting them both, changing everything they know. There are a million positives about this big change, but there are negatives too. Mainly for my kids. Am I a bad mom?? I can't wait to be closer to all my family on the west coast, to be able to spend holidays with cousins, aunts, uncles, & everyone. To be able to attend friends' baby showers & weddings, to just be closer to those that mean so much to me and let them know my little family.

*ugh* this is such a pain in the butt!! I never anticipated getting attached to this goofy little southern town. I am going to miss the friends I have made here, and all the wonderful memories from bring my babies home from the hospital, up until them being 4 and 5 now. There will be so many things to miss and I never even expected it. I'm such a doofus.

Any advice from those who have moved with kids?

Wordless Wednesday, Munchkins

I am feeling rather indecisive this morning and can't pick out my picture for Wordless Wednesday. So I have decided to use 2 (I hope that's OK, please don't send in the SWAT team, my house is a mess!) So here is opposite day with pictures:

Quiet, sleepy, peaceful munchkins

Awake, rowdy, goofy munchkins

I love them either way. There are days where i prefer the sleeping munchkins, but i wouldn't trade in their funny side for anything in the world. Have a great Wednesday everyone!

A 1980's Christmas List

Today the Toys 'R' Us big toy book came in the mail. My kids couldn't wait to circle all the things they wanted to ask Santa for. This made me start thinking about the things I had probably asked Santa for when I was their age.

Let's take a trip down memory lane, shall we? On to the 1980's to visit some of my favorite toys...

1. Popples

2. A Thundercats Lion-O action figure

3. Jem and The Holograms Lunchbox

4. Garbage Pail Kids Collector Cards

5. My Pet Monster

6. Kissyfur VHS

7. Fraggle Rock Dolls

8. Voltron Action Figure

9. Talking ALF Doll

Now that I looked up and found all of my favorite toys from when I was a kid I have come to realize that I would still be excited if Santa brought me any of these things this year. Toys from our childhood will always be cool no matter how old we get :) What were some of your favorite toys growing up?

You're Gonna Miss this...Moment, Zoo Trips

What a day! We took the munchkins to the Riverbank Zoo today. We met up with some old friends we hadn't seen in years, pre-kid friends. Kate over at Kate's Musings and her lovely family. 4 kids in tow and everyone stayed together, got along, and were well behaved... I couldn't have imagined a better way to spend my Saturday. My hubby and Kate's hubby had a nice time catching up after all these years, the kids enjoyed the company of other mini-munchkins to run and play with. Kate and I were just glad to see each other. The last time we saw one another in person was at my wedding! Kate is who started me on this whole "blog thing."

Zane, Nate and Audrey ready for our fun day ahead.

I am absolutely going to miss taking my kids to the zoo, I love watching them get excited over simple things like monkey's swinging from a tree.

20 Questions

I have been so preoccupied with moving stuff. My mind is turning to mush, so I thought I would let you in on some tidbits about me. OK, let me rephrase: I'm bored and don't want to do the things I should be doing so I decided to make a list of facts instead, filled with links to random information just for fun. Here you go dearies:
  1. I wear flip flops year round, rain or shine
  2. Recently purchased “Hysteria” by Muse on iTunes
  3. I have 4 tattoos… wanting just 1 more (please hubby?)
  4. Never broke a bone in my body
  5. An only child
  6. I am a Sagittarius, go fire signs!
  7. My favorite color changes daily, today its fuchsia
  8. I SO want to sky dive someday
  9. Obsessed with all my nifty electronic gadgets
  10. I never did great in HS but got straight A’s in college
  11. I had a lamb named Zazzoo when I was 15
  12. Playing the piano is my therapy (next to blogging of course)
  13. Currently reading “eclipse” by Stephanie Meyer
  14. Love Oakley sunglasses
  15. Drink way too much Diet Dr. Pepper
  16. Will always be a SF Giants fan
  17. Bite my nails
  18. Listen to music WAY too loud in the car
  19. Hate to cook (sorry family)
  20. I need to get a haircut, looking scraggly these days

There, that was an excellent waist of time! Is it way too obvious I am trying to waste time? Hope something fascinated you. Anything I should know about you? You know I want to know! Come on, spit it out...

Wordless Wednesday, Sugar and Spice

There is a nice fall chill in the air around here, it feels wonderful. Today my daughter had a dentist appointment and afterwards she was quite cranky, so I snuck off to our front porch (below) to take in the lovely weather for a few minutes. Then I made her a snack to munch on while we drove to pick up her big brother from kindergarten. So here's your Sugar (sweet calm porch scene) & Spice (cranky preschooler making faces).

Sugar & Spice (great, now I'm thinking about pumpkin pie. There goes the diet... again.)

The Chatterbox Home

Welcome to my home, my inner-sanctum, the place all creativity flows...

Not that seeing how my home looks would unlock some giant mystery into who I am... but, you might figure some stuff out. Ha Ha. Here is our lovely house, and guess what folks? It could be yours!! (I see the look of excitement in your face.) So if you know anyone in SC looking for a home I would be happy to oblige. Just thought I'd share what it looks like when it's all cleaned up :)

On with the photo tour:

Pretty soon I will have a new tour for you from AZ. I know this is kind of a boring post for a Monday. Hey, it can't be all exciting or you'd expect too much of me :) Have a good day everyone.

Sunday Signspotting: week thirteen

It's Sunday and my hubby is actually off from work! Amazing, we never get him on a weekend :) We'll be sure to enjoy every minute. Hope your day is great. Here's your fun for today.

Hey kids, forget the amusement park, it’s open house fun day at the funeral home! Last one in the car is a rotting corpse. Picture: Jeanne Keith

Sometimes it’s easy to forget that people might be just as baffled by our toilets as we are by some of theirs. Though, we have yet to see a sign in a squatter instructing people not to sit directly on the hole in the floor. Picture: Marianne Lawrence

We are now searching for signs to “The Amy Winehouse Centre for Sobriety". Picture: Storm Cunningham

In other words, steal a few packs of chewing gum and your body gets more holes than a sponge. A little harsh, maybe, but you can’t say they didn’t warn you. Picture: Ed Skupien

Ever wondered what you’d get if you combined a funeral parlor and a yard sale? No, neither have we. Picture: Judy Richards

So this is what it looks like when the NRA and ecologists find a compromise. Everyone gets something. The hunters get to hunt and the national wildlife protectors get... well, they get this sign. Picture: Robert Rivard

Here’s an interesting business model: Lure them in with stuffed animals, then sell them cheese. Presumably, the cheese looks incredibly lifelike. Picture: Steven Steuck

You're Gonna Miss this...Moment, NOT!

OK, can I change this up a bit? Since the impending move is less then a month away now, I have a million things I am going to miss (my friends, my house, my kids friends, the woods that surround our home, the pool, my sense of security...) Today I am going to tell you about a moment I am NOT going to miss. I am NOT going to miss this:

Once I reach that imaginary, always longing for, distant weight I want to be, I will be so excited to GET OFF THE TREADMILL! Yes, I know if I ever get to that magic number I will have to maintain to stay there, but I won't have to hang out with this machine everyday. And that is the moment I will NOT miss.

Today not missing is so much easier to deal with, I hope you understand. :) Have a great weekend everyone!
